Dr. William Perry: This was the location of People's Bank at one time. Ted Pusser ran an automobile parts place here after he left the Ford dealership. Billy and Dale Lee ran a cut-rate drug store at this location.
Theodore Randolph Pusser: When my father started his automobile parts place at this location, there were a number of vaults in the building. The vaults had been used to house the weapons and ammunition for the Home Guard which had been housed in this location. John Thomas (Jeep) Hurst: During WW II, this building was vacant, and it served as an armory for the SC State Guard. Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers Billy and Dale Lee opened their store, but it was not a drug store. They sold cosmetics, music, cassettes, over-the-counter medicines, and a hodge-podge of items such a what we would find at a "dollar store" today. |
