Dr. William Perry: Mr. Preston Hurst operated a barber shop at this location for a number of years. Mr. Preston lived in the Shiloh community and was a brother of Mr. Finley Hurst, a farmer in the Oakland community. Mr. Jim Campbell cut hair here before moving to Davis Barber Shop
Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: Today Razor's Edge, a beauty and barber shop, occupies this space. The owners are Cecil and Brenda Judy McLain. Hough Insurance was here before Bill moved the office back across the street. The Chesterfield County School District Title I Office headed by Garland Hicks was here until the district offices were consolidated at one location. I am not sure of the name of the shop here that was run by Ronald Smith, but Cecil McLain remembers it as an aquarium store. |
