Dr. William Perry: Buck Rivers had a temporary building here before this permanent structure was built. As I recall, it was a railroad car and sat parallel to the sidewalk. Mrs. Ada Rivers enjoyed eating at this location.

James W. Jenkins: I recall the caboose that served as a diner. The doors opened right onto the sidewalk, and one day when I was on the way home from school, a man walked out of the diner into my path as I rode my bike. I recall hitting him and falling to the ground. I don’t recall if anyone was hurt, but I was scared to death. I must have been in the 5th or 6th grade when it happened.

Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: Norma Gaddy Adams had a women's clothes outlet here for almost twenty years in the latter part of the 20th century, but her primary occupation was clothes alterations. She served individual patrons, but she also did alterations for department stores in town. Today this store is the site of Olde Towne Marketplace, an antiques business owned by Leon and Kay Gulledge Douglas, who also own Douglas Gallery on the east end of the business district on the north side of Main Street.
