James W. Jenkins: Townley Redfearn owned a cotton gin and was a cotton buyer. He and his wife, Dessie Pusser Redfearn, lived here until their deaths. After that this property became rental property. For many year Charles and Elizabeth Jenkins Sweatt lived here and maintained a beautiful yard and garden. Mrs. Sweatt died in 2006, and Mr. Sweatt continues to live here.
Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: My husband Charles's maternal grandmother, Ella Hartsell Gaskins, lived here before the Redfearns. I think this was probably some time in the early 40's. |
